Republicans Killing Their Constituents

This is utterly unshocking:

[T]he states most likely to “win” as a result of health care reform are Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Utah. All of these states have a relatively high number of uninsured and all are in the bottom half of states in terms of cost under both financing mechanisms.

Since the Civil Rights era, Republicans have tricked their base into voting against their economic and social interests by playing to their basest fears and prejudices.

Just another sign that Republicans’ real constituents aren’t those that vote for them, but the people who pay for the campaigns. Like big Pharma and AHIP. Seems to me the GOP caucus is the real death panel.

Oh, and shout out to Igor Volsky, who is doing great work on healthcare over at Think Progress and with Howard Dean. I interned with Igor a few summers back, and he’s a really good kid.
