For the Greater Good
I really should also add that I’m not just doing this for amusement or some weird web 2.0 ambition — nay, I plan on trying to build awareness, and, gasp, help people.
So if any of you tumblrs or readers otherwise have any spare cash, or can forgo a couple of overpriced drinks, it would be an honor of you could head on over to the American Heart Association, or Columbia University Medial Center Cardiology Division, and plunk down a small donation.
AMA does the crazy science stuff that advances breakthroughs that keep bloggers like me alive, and more than likely, will one day down the road help you or someone you know and love with their support of all things heart health.
Columbia University Medical Center is where I will be undergoing the surgery — they’ve taken care of me for 23 years, and I owe my entire life to them.
If you do it, and feel comfortable, do me a favor and email me, just to tell me what you gave. Any amount is good, believe me, especially in this economy. I only want to know so I can figure out how much this small little web community donated. Maybe patients blogging could become a new, cool way to fundraise online.
But if you want to do it anonymously, please, all the more power to you.
Thanks everyone!

Also, again, if you have any heart (pun!), reblog this, so your friends and followers have a chance to help out, as well.
